31 usage of Casio Fx-570ES on Thu Feb 12, 2009 11:04 pm

by go thru some posted entry, now i already got some ideas on this model of scientific calculator even me myself did not have any experience using this type of gadget.

i'm not very clear who will be our respondents for our research? if we focus on Numerical Method, our respondent must be the one who already master this subject right? so, who is our respondent? Question

in my opinion, students need to learn the mathematics topics 1st before using calculator to make some calculations. otherwise they couldn't know and relate the concept with the format or rules in using calculator.therefore,i think students will not forget the maths concept, but they may become more dependent, which depend on advance calculator like 570es. if anyone doubt it, you may correct me.
cheers

Is that all topic in the numerical analysis also can solve by this calculator?

Casio fx-570es have 403 functions. Compare with the fx-570ms
which have 401 functions. The two added function is Table and
Summition.

Most of the topic can solve by this calculator.

Normazni Yahya wrote:yes its true....but do we need to have more than 1 calculator just because it have a difference function?because there are at least three calculator that i know....
1. fx-570ms
2.fx-570es
3.graphical calculator

why dont we build a calculator with all these functions consist in the three calculator above?

I know more than 50 different calculator produce by Casio, and
more than 100 different calculator that produce by others company.
We don't need to buy all the calculator. Different calculator can
fullfill different need. Normally the calculator with more function
will be more expensive. For example, the graphical calculator that
commercial in the market is cost more than RM 100 and some even
more expensive than computer. We don't need that graphic calculator
then we don't buy.

what fx-570ms can do, fx-570es can do it better. Try it and then
share your experience with us.

By the way, it was a nice stuff to have one. It was also as friendly as me. Huhuhu. Cool

Where do you download the emulator? Please tell me, my friend at
UTHM need it. If can download from internet, then what I need to
do is give her the link.

If you had bring your laptop on today (13 Feb) calculator
workshop, then I think you had install the full version.

It's depend. For example, If you are using this calculator to teach
numerical methods, then the time you save for calculation can
use to emphasis on the concept. But If you are teaching fraction
to the primary student and allow then to get all answer, then
they might have problem with concept if they depend on the calculator.

Like what Chinese said :"Water can bring ship but can overturn it too."
It's just a tools. Depend on how you use it.

The respondents is decide by the researcher. If you find someone
who took numerical method, then will be good. But if you find
someone who never take that subject also fine. The respondent can
be mathematics student, Computer Science student or you can even
find TESL or art student if you want to see whether this calculator
can help someone who don't have strong mathematics background.

39 respondent and instrument on Fri Feb 13, 2009 2:21 pm

nice Very Happy

is it ok Sir if i try to find my respondent from other Uni which they already take numerical method?

but here i still confused about the way we want to do our research...how Sir? and what type of instrument that we going to use for our research? Question

Cool if you can get respondent from others university.

The instrument that we going to use for our research is test.

We will do action research, by giving the respondent a pre training
test and a post training test, then we can investigate whether the
calculator training provided does give impact or not.

I did try to search it online, but i can't find the emulator for
fx-570es. I can find other model emulator only, there are a lot
emulator for graphical calculator.

i've learned how to use the casio fx-570es yesterday.even only a little bit.. but it's so amazing!!..i've never seen before especially when we want to calculate for integration, matrices and so on...juz only put the value and directly got the answer..very2 easy...maybe i can get better result for calculus subjects if i buy this calculator last semester...huhuhuh.. Mad

Like what I said, if you want to learn how to use a new calculator. What you need to do is not join the conference but you need to practice, try to use the calculator. Simply press the button in the calculator (don't worry, if you press the wrong button, the calculator won't explode. Laughing ). You can find the user manual from the internet, then follow the step in the manual. If you are using Texas Instrument or HP graphic calculator, they have a lot of useful iterative source to learn it. Then you may ask, how about Casio? My answer is Casio also have (you can find it at casio edu website), but it is limited. That why our project is develop the video module for Casio calculator but not TI and HP, because not many people done it before. Not many people do, we do then only valuable. Smile ha ha ha
